Idaho Statesman Answers

Q: Why are you running?
A: I believe Eagle is at a pivot point & this election is of critical importance as we navigate continued growth & the challenges it brings. My experience as a Highway Commissioner, where I built positive & collaborative partnerships with surrounding jurisdictions, is something that will be an asset on the City Council, as will my proven track record as a fiscal conservative. I have lived in Eagle for almost 30 years & I’ve been invested, volunteering & advocating for our Eagle community during all those years. I have the background, knowledge, & vision to help guide our city’s next steps.

Q: What are your top three priorities?
A: First, I believe in proactive, not reactive, planning. Overseeing and managing Eagle’s growth and infrastructure using a practical common sense approach is essential to ensure the city retains what makes it truly special and the City cannot afford to play catch-up. Second, I believe that public safety is the cornerstone to keeping Eagle a safe and vibrant community and I will work to continue fostering a collaborative approach with our partners at the Ada County Sheriff’s Office and the Eagle Fire District to ensure that we address our community’s needs in a proactive manner. Finally, I have a community-focused approach to representation. I believe open communication and transparency are cornerstones of good government and the only way to ensure everyone’s voice is being heard and well represented in the decision making process.

Q: What sets you apart from your competitors?
A: I’m a 5th generation Idahoan & the only candidate who’s lived in Eagle for almost 30 years. I have the experience & expertise to recognize the uniqueness of our city & build upon it to create a vibrant community. I have strong relationships with jurisdictions in Ada & Canyon Counties & the State. I’ve fostered good relationships built on mutual trust & maintain them. When officials are talking, we build trust, avoid costly litigation & nurture a thriving community. I cultivated broad support as a Highway Commissioner & would bring the same attitude as a Council-member to find solutions.

Q: Eagle has recently grown by over 27 square miles and hundreds of homes with the annexation of Avimor. What do you anticipate the city needing to address with this recent growth?
A: Growth does not just impact our city, but our entire region. I believe in a proactive approach, which means the City of Eagle needs to be in control of the growth that most directly impacts it instead of neighboring jurisdictions. I want to make sure that Eagle residents have a say. The City must balance managing our growth while respecting private property rights to meet the needs of all of our existing residents while also anticipating new needs that arise as we continue to grow as a community in a manner that is consistent with our Comprehensive Plan and the community we want Eagle to be.
